Big Bottom Begums | Bold South Asian Conversations
Big Bottom Begums is an Insaan Arts platform hosted by Yasmin Whittaker-Khan and Suniya Qureshi, featuring bold interviews with artists, writers, performers, public figures and cultural voices from South Asia and the diaspora.
Voices That Matter
Big Bottom Begums began as a bold online space for South Asian women’s voices, body confidence, humour and cultural expression. It has grown into a lively interview platform where serious subjects meet warmth, satire and real conversation.
The project celebrates the people shaping arts, literature, performance, media, activism, beauty, identity and public life. Each conversation opens a window into creative journeys, lived experiences and the questions that matter to our communities today.
Big Bottom Begums is proudly rooted in the values of Insaan Arts: inclusion, cultural integrity, equality, visibility and joyful resistance.

Why It Matters
Too often, South Asian women and cultural voices are expected to be quiet, respectable or easily categorised. Big Bottom Begums refuses that limitation.
The platform celebrates complexity. It makes room for glamour and grief, politics and poetry, laughter and difficult truth. It is a space where guests can be brilliant, messy, bold, emotional, intellectual and fully themselves.
